The sun was shining at Uppingham Town CC for the ASDA Girls County Kwik cricket finals on Wednesday 20th June. 5 teams from Leicester-Shire and Rutland took part in the competition which was also a School Games Super Series Final.

With Parents and Staff supporting from the sidelines, the girls played each other in a round robin league. There were strong performances from all the teams throughout the day. In particular, Langham Primary (Rutland) showed great strength with a number of big sixes from their players. However some impressive catching and sensible batting from Abbey Primary (Leicester) meant they held their nerve to win all their matches and the crown of County Winners for 2012. Both Abbey and Langham Primary schools will now progress to the East Midlands regional competition on the 5th July.

The scores and results from all the games can be viewed in the below document. Photo’s can viewed in our gallery

All the schools played in the spirit of the game and showed great respect for the officials and opposition. St Margaret’s (Hinckley and Bosworth) were the winners of the School Games Values award for the enthusiasm and encouragement they showed throughout the day.
