The ECB City Cup, formerly the Wisden City Cup, was designed to promote inner-city cricket and social cohesion and has been staged in London under the auspices of Middlesex County Cricket Club since 2009. In 2013, 35 teams competed in eight LTCC competitions based across the country: Birmingham, Bradford, Leicester, Luton, North London, South London, Wolverhampton and Manchester.
The main aim of the competition is to give opportunities to those players, with talent, who play outside of the top of the traditional Senior League structure or at the top end of Premier Leagues, enabling them to fast track not only in their own counties but nationally with the opportunity to gain selection on to the MCC Young Cricketers Programme.
