South Leicestershire College’s have again been involved in supporting construction projects at community cricket clubs. In August 2011, Countesthorpe CC completed a project details form to modernise and extend their current changing facilities. This was submitted to SLC who agreed to take on aspects of the project that the college students had the skills to complete.

“As far as we are concerned as a department and myself as Project Manager, these jobs are an ideal opportunity for the learners to pull together as a team in a working environment knowing that the work they are doing is staying up and benefiting a good cause” – Duncan Maccoll (SLC)

Details of the work completed can be found on the NWCF Case Studies page. The college support has saved the club £5,500 in labour. There is around £2,000 worth of work still to be completed by club volunteers and so the club will able to complete an £11,500 project for an actual spend of around £3,000.

Terry Swingler of Countesthorpe CC said “We are very pleased with the high standard or work that has been supplied to form the extension of our pavilion”

SLC are also supporting projects at Blaby Village CC and Electricity Sports CC in 2012.

Brooksby College are supporting a project at Loughborough Outwoods CC and have offered further support to Gumley CC for the 2012/13 academic year.
