The ninth National NatWest OSCA’s event took place at Lords on Monday 17th October 2012. The Outstanding Services to Cricket Awards are part of the ECB volunteering programme and are used to recognise and reward the positive contribution of volunteers around the Country.

Over 400 people attended the event from throughout the Country including the 7 winners of the Leicestershire awards who had an opportunity to tour the ground before enjoying the awards and hospitality provided by the ECB. The Leicestershire winners were;

Behind the Scenes – Alison Kirk (Barkby CC)

Officiating – Graham Pickering (Leicestershire and Rutland ACO)

Building Partnerships – Charlie Scott (Uppingham Town CC)

Leagues and Boards – Jeff Baxter (Leicestershire and Rutland Cricket Board and Leicestershire Youth Cricket League)

NatWest CricketForce – Thorpe Arnold CC

Young Volunteer – Daniel Chapman (Newbold Verdon CC)

Lifetime Achiever – Dick Fowkes (Kegworth CC)

Leicestershire’s Dick Fowkes was shortlisted and Won the ‘Lifetime Achiever’ award which was presented by James Anderson and Matt Prior. Dick was nominated by 3 separate individuals thanks to his fantastic contribution to the game locally. He has been the clubs groundsman for 30years and has umpired at Premier League level whilst being involved with the club for more than 50years. Over the years Dick has served as Chairman on two occasions spanning over 18 years and has enjoyed three spells as Secretary spanning over 21 years. He is also a Committee member for the North Leicester Cricket League, Everards and Premier League’s.

LRC would like to congratulate Dick on winning the ‘Lifetime Achiever’ award and thank him for his continued commitment to grassroots cricket.
