Leicestershire County Cricket Club Recreational Cricket Statement regarding easing of Covid-19 measures in Leicester City.

We have considered the update of 17th August 2020 on HM Government information regarding the changes in Covid-19 measures in Leicester City. Leicestershire County Cricket Club have continued to liaise with key stakeholders, including Leicester City Council and the ECB, to champion the benefits for recreational cricket.

As updated on the Government website on 19th August, some of the local restrictions for the area of Leicester City have been eased. Clubs and players from within Leicester City are now allowed to operate in line with national social distancing guidelines and the ECB step 4 guidance and are now in line with other areas of Leicestershire and Rutland in reaching Step 4 of the ECB return to cricket Roadmap.

To avoid confusion, ALL cricket activity for Leicester City based clubs and any players who live in Leicester City, is now limited to take place in group sizes of up to 30 (including the coach), maintaining a minimum of 2m social distancing.

We are delighted that cricket matches for clubs and players who live within the Leicester City Local authority boundary are clear to go ahead now that restrictions have been lifted. Please refer to the latest information on what you can and cannot do in Leicester City.

Leicestershire CCC will continue to monitor the situation along with key partners and will undertake the necessary measures to support the local guidelines.

Leicestershire CCC encourages you to Stay at home where possible, keep 2 metres apart and continue to wash your hands regularly.

Everyone in the cricket family have a responsibility to continue to adhere to the Step 4 guidance to protect Public Health. We ask that you continue to play your part to ensure the safe continuation of our great game.
