On 1st December 2012 the Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) and the Independent Safeguarding Authority (ISA) merged to form the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).
The CRB application form was replaced with a new DBS application form. The form now reflects the change of name from CRB to DBS and a new logo, together with some wording and format changes. All key processes and information required to complete the application form remain unchanged.
We are pleased to inform you that from the 1st May, the ECB will be able to accept DBS checks from other organisations, providing the individual is already registered with the DBS’ Online Update Service.
Individuals should contact GB Group at ECBchecks@gbgplc.com or telephone 0845 251 3000 to request the necessary consent form and documentation. Individuals are encouraged to read the guidance carefully to ensure they have the correct type of check, and be sure they have registered with the DBS Update Service.
Please visit ECB website to find out more about DBS online update system.
