Leicestershire County Cricket Club Recreational Cricket Statement in response to extended Covid-19 measures in Leicester and Oadby & Wigston
We have considered the Health Secretary’s update on 16th July 2020 regarding the extended Covid-19 measures in Leicester City and Oadby & Wigston, Leicestershire County Cricket Club has again been in contact with key stakeholders, including Leicester City Council and the ECB, to understand the implications for recreational cricket.
We understand the easing of restrictions for those living in areas not in Leicester City and Oadby and Wigston will commence from 18th July. These areas are highlighted by the newly released map.
We continue to be guided by Government and ECB to allow us to provide information to cricket clubs and the recreational game both within and close to the affected area.
Cricket clubs in Leicester City and Oadby Wigston must continue to follow the guidance set out in Step 3 of the ECB return to cricket Roadmap. Our recommendation remains that Clubs refer to the ECB Return to Cricket Roadmap on what is permitted regarding training and outdoor net usage in Step 3. To avoid confusion, ALL cricket activity within Leicester City and Oadby an Wigston is limited to groups of 6. Cricket Matches within the highlighted boundary are to remain suspended until restrictions are further lifted.
Anyone living in the affected area must not travel outside of Leicester City or Oadby & Wigston to play or watch cricket matches.
Leicestershire CCC will continue to undertake the necessary measures to support the local guidelines.
Leicestershire CCC encourages you to Stay at home where possible, keep 2 metres apart and continue to wash our hands regularly
