The series of T20 rounds was the perfect tonic after a frustrating start to the Royal London One Day campaign for the Leicestershire Vixens.
The Vixens competed against Lincolnshire, Cumbria and Northumberland over 3 rounds of fixtures, totaling in 6 games.
The bowling unit certainly enjoyed themselves, conceding no more than 90 runs in an innings throughout out all 6 fixtures, taking 45 wickets in the process. Standout wicket takers were Collette Wale (9 wickets including 5-9), Niki Patel (7 wickets including 3-11) and Anna Kingstone (5 wickets including 3-8). They were ably backed up by the spin of Lucy Higham as well as fellow seam bowlers Paramjothy, Peel, Relf and Rafiq.
The batters were also keen to find some form, and in the first round they set 155 against Lincolnshire which included a fine 63* for Katie Midwood (114 runs at 38). The lower scores were chased relatively comfortably with opener Katie Winterton (102 runs at 20.4) setting a string of scores of 27, 25 and 30* in the last three games.
As well as impressing with the ball, Niki Patel scored 95 runs at 31.6 including a vital 40 during a slight batting hiccup against Cumbria whilst chasing 79 to win, with the Vixens eventually winning off the last ball!
Promotion was sealed this weekend making the long trip to Northumberland very much worth it!
All 6 wins included contributions from the whole squad and the Vixens will look to take confidence generated from the T20 season into the last 3 One Day fixtures, starting with Hampshire away on Sunday 28th August.
