Google Digital Garage
Cricket clubs across England and Wales can benefit from digital skills webinars as part of a new partnership between the ECB and Google Digital Garage. Google Digital Garage is one of Google’s flagship investment programmes in the UK, where anyone can learn free digital skills through a range of courses and sessions.
The three webinars will run weekly on Tuesday mornings from 15 June, with each session live streamed on YouTube and lasting 60 minutes.

Sport England – Club Matters
Club Matters is Sport England’s one stop shop for clubs, groups and organisations involved in the delivery of physical activity and sport. Club Matters provides free, convenient, practical resources to help organisations to develop, grow and become more sustainable and successful.
Inspiring the next generation of cricketers is crucial and coaches at clubs are a key part of doing this. This is the perfect time for coaches develop and learn new skills to help the players they work with to improve when cricket resumes.
The ECB have launched a series of coaching webinars, held every Thursday afternoon at 14:00, to continue to develop and support coaches. So far there have been various high profile guests, including Jane Powell, Ashley Giles and Peter Such – the recordings are available in the Kitbag area of iCoachCricket here.

iCoachCricket Resources Update
The ECB recently overhauled the iCoach Cricket online interface and mobile app, which has improved the user experience and bettered the help and support of new and existing coaches with improved content. Register here
The Association of Cricket Officials have launched of three, free of charge, online courses for anyone involved in cricket.
The ECB ACO online courses available are:
- Basics of Umpiring
- It’s Your Call – Umpire Education Stage One
- Basics of Scoring
Basics of Umpiring
This course is aimed at club umpires who just need to know the key laws and basic field craft and those players who umpire 5 or 10 overs at the weekend. For ages 13 and over.
It’s Your Call – Umpire Education Stage One
This course is designed to give an overview of the basic Laws of the Game, how to apply them and introduce the principles of field craft and match management. This course is a perfect introduction for new club umpires, a refresher for existing umpires and the first step for those who aspire to umpire at higher levels. For ages 13 and over.
Individuals who complete this course will be eligible for full ECB ACO Membership. You will be required to complete the necessary forms (online) to obtain this.
- Under 16s will receive full membership immediately, which will continue until 18 (providing they remain an active member). An ECB DBS is required upon turning 16.
- Over 16s will also receive free membership until they are 18*
- Over 18s receive their first year free*
*All over 16s will need an ECB DBS to secure full membership, but will be joined as Associate members until they are able to get the certificate. For more information on DBS’ please contact Andy Hibberd
Basics of Scoring
This course is designed to provide you with all the skills needed to start scoring. The course covers the basics of scoring a game of cricket such as, scoring symbols, umpire signals, dismissals and gives a helpful overview of the Laws of the Game. For ages 13 and over.
