Club Welfare Officers

You are vital members of your club and key to making an environment safe, welcoming and friendly for children/ young people and adults to enjoy the game of cricket.

To become a club welfare officer, you will need:

  • ECB Vetting check- DBS
  • ECB Safe Hands Certificate
  • UK Coaching Safeguarding and Protecting children certificate

You will need to renew all the above every three years.

How to obtain an ECB Vetting check

Please contact a member of Leicestershire County Cricket Club – Community team with the following details:

  • Your Full Name (what is on your birth certificate or passport)
  • Date of Birth
  • Email Address
  • Cricket Club and role at the club- e.g club welfare officer

Once we have this information, we will then add it to online system which will then email you to complete the online document. You will then need to complete the online form with relevant documents, once completed you will then need one of the Leicestershire CCC team or your club welfare officer to verify your online application face to face with your documentation.

ECB Safe Hands Certificate

We are currently not running any courses from April due to the Coronavirus, we will await further guidance from ECB and Government. 

This course is ran locally by Leicestershire County Cricket and is a three-hour course.

We run this course at Leicestershire County Cricket Club Indoor School costing £30 which can be paid online or when completing the booking form click pay offline and you will be able to pay cash, cheque or BACS but please email Heather Beattie if you want to pay offline

UK Coaching- Safeguarding and Protecting Children

This workshop is ran by UK Coaching and will raise your awareness of the tell-tale signs of abuse and give you the tools and confidence you need to deal with any issues sensitively, appropriately and effectively should the need ever arise in your club welfare career.
